Name: Renamori, Kyoko
Age: 197
Height: 5'6"
Weight: 160lb
Appearance:
Kyoko adorns deep purple hair, coupled with emerald green eyes. His hair brushes well past his face as he keeps a large set of bangs in front of his right eye. This doesn't entirely inhibit his sense of sight; however he sometimes tries to brush his hair away out of habit. On occasion, he will streak his hair a deep red near the bangs as he enjoys expressing both the night and the day due to the nature of his Zanpakuto.
He wears the typical black kimono that most Shinigami are seen with as well as the white under garment, however has a slight modification. He added to hood to the back of his kimono which he rarely puts up unless he is either in a bad mood or is being serious about a situation. He carries his Zanpakuto safely underneath the white sash around his waist on the left side as it is easily accessible with his right hand which is his dominant hand. The typical straw sandals also are a common place for him along with the white toe socks.
He wears two pieces of jewelry which he dubs Luna and Sol. On his right wrist, there is a bracelet of twelve crescent moons. Each moon is a different color representing the season's changes. On his left, there is a bracelet of stars with similar color styles. These appear to glow whenever he releases his Zanpakuto, perhaps it is his connection of the stars and sun, however it remains to be seen exactly why they glow. He will also wear a pair of thin black gloves which needless to say get shredded quite often while he is fighting or training. They are rather cheap though so he easily replaces them once a pair is shredded beyond any further use.
Personality:
Kyoko has always been quite an outspoken individual for the most part. He rarely backs down to say his opinion unless it is made quite clear that his comments are not welcome. He sometimes gets irritated at how others don't take his views seriously. Being outspoken, Kyoko doesn't flare with a temper as much as one might think. Usually he tries to keep himself calm and collected, however if you push him enough, you can send him over the edge.
He also has a good intuition about others he might meet. Most of the time he can figure someone out first time meeting them. You have to be pretty deceptive or have to go quite out of your way to trick him. Other than that, Kyoko is a kind individual for the most part. He rarely holds grudges against people and is easy going with friends he makes. The one thing that can get him going are people who continue to annoy him for no apparent reason. It bothers him to no end if he can’t understand why someone won’t leave him alone or continues to ask about something he has no clue about.
Only making one friend before moving to the academy, Kyoko can become rather nervous around females. This isn't to say they can dampen his outbursts and opinions; however he tends to hold back a little or becomes tongue-tied on a few occasions. His friend, Yuli was rather outspoken like him and was a bit of a tomboy. She was rather easy to get along with, however most girls weren't exactly like her which leads to his problems sometimes with females.
Kyoko tends to be a hard working individual, constantly keeping up morale with friends as well as squads he is assigned to for missions. He tries to take up as much work as possible to show his loyalty and devotion to whoever he may serve. This leads to him being overworked however, and sometimes he doesn’t even see it until he is out cold on a desk or in the courtyard of his Division barracks.
History:
Kyoko grew up in West Rukongai, District 8. District 8 was a lawful as well as peaceful district of the West Rukongai. It was here where Kyoko first discovered his connection to the world he lived in. While in his early childhood, Kyoko would constantly sneak out of bed to look up at the stars. He found them all rather beautiful, however the moon captured his attention the most. He continued to sneak out every night, even though he would get caught every so often by his parents Euphemia and Kursaro.
He met his friend Yuli while playing his violin one day on the streets of the Rukongai. She teased him a bit before he became flustered at her and almost broke his violin. She giggled slightly as he chased after her, eventually catching her. Pinning her to the ground she spoke rather slyly to him. "Didn't you ever get told not to punch a girl?" He flicked her on her forehead for the comment only to recieve a punch to his shoulder in return. The two quickly bonded due to Yuli's tomboyish nature. This didn't bother Kyoko at all, however felt odd when he talked with other girls in his district. None of them seemed as free-spirited like Yuli. Eventually, Kyoko had to bid her farewell as he wanted to attend the academy. He remembered her parting words. Well they weren't words at all, she merly punched him in his shoulder. It was their greeting they always had with each other. He could've sworn he saw a tear on her face when he left.
It wasn't until later on when his Zanpakuto Twilight beckoned to him. His parents had never really encouraged him to study to become a Soul Reaper, however something inspired him to do so. It seemed as if the stars talked to him every night, convincing him to go. He entered into the Shinigami institute and began to practice with his new found enjoyment. He frequently left his dorm assignment to train during the night time. He felt so much better while practicing under the stars.
He became slightly fond of Kido and moderated it with his other techniques he learned while at the institute. He graduated and became assigned to the 10th Division in which he quickly accepted with great dignity. He had no clue what was in store for him, however he continued to study and practice his swordsmanship and technique. He wondered how far he could climb the Division ranks.
His fighting style soon began to take shape. He designed it upon the stars as well as the relationship of the sun and moon. His fellow squad members soon began to dub him Nova due to the colors and visuals his techniques gave off. He aspired to become seated in the 10th Division. In specific, a Vice Captain, however this position was already filled. It was his dream now in which he looked back to the stars for guidance even if it wasn’t Division 10 where he would achieve Vice Captain rank.
He was able to gain his rank up through the Division to achieve 3rd seat. He only obtained this after his few missions he was sent on in the Mortal World as well as during practice Hollow raids. The first time he showed his abilities was a practice gone wrong during his entrance to the Division. Kyoko was placed in a small group of three members sent to herd a weak hollow into a trap by higher ranked members.
It was simple practice until the Hollow showed its true abilities. It had hid its own spiritual energy as a trick to make the Soul Reapers think it was weaker than what it was. Upon being lead to the higher ranked members of the Division, the Hollow went berserk injuring all three of the higher ranked members. Kyoko's two members fled him in fear as he stood to fend off the Hollow while assistance arrived.
The Hollow wasn't exactly large, probably no bigger than a large tiger. It resembled a scorpion almost without the large tail. Kyoko thrust his blade towards the Hollow, however missed as it came back around to crush his arm. In response, Kyoko unsealed his Zanpakuto and called down one of his signature moves, Star Fall. The miniature stars no bigger than a tennis ball crashed down from the tip of Kyoko's blade. They carpeted the Hollow, burning it into submission. Taking his chance, Kyoko cut the Hollow in half with one quick blow.
He was commended by his fellow squad members later on as assitance came. The two that had left him refused to show their faces again, perhaps guilt had gotten the best of them. Later, he was sent on another mission to the Mortal Realm where he and another squad member were sent to investigate mysterious murders of fellow Shinigami. It soon came to be that the murders were done by a Hollow that used the shadows to travel.
It resembled a cross between a snake and a preying mantis. Eight beat red eyes placed on its mask as well as two large scythe-like claws. It was quick and traveled along the shadows to its target. In an instant when Kyoko and his squad mate had encountered the Hollow, it was upon them. It chose however to kill Kyoko's squad mate first, impaling him with its large scythe-like claws.
Kyoko quickly released his Zanpakuto and tried to strike down the creature, however to no avail, it was too quick when it traveled through the shadows. To his surprised it rose from the shadows behind him. It thrust a large claw down grazing his shoulder as he darted away. It continued to encircle him until he attempted a new attack strategy. He invoked his Crescent Blades ability. Kyoko swung in various directions with his blade as the wakes of spiritual energy crashed through the shadows. The Hollow not predicting this, ran into one of the wakes and shrieked in terror as it was caught. Kyoko soon took this chance and impaled the Hollow with his own Zanpakuto.
He recovered his squad mate's body and returned to Soul Society with his grim news. He wish he could do more, it felt like he was always the 'lucky' one to come out of situations. He never understood it, however continued to aspire to what he wanted to be. Perhaps Vice Captain of a squad someday. This all came true when his abilities were recognized widely throughout the 10th Division which he was originally accepted into.
He was soon promoted to Captain rank upon a rigorous testing of himself with the last of the original Gotei 13 gone. This new age was ushered in with promise, as he had vastly fufilled a dream which he had not even imagined. He believed only to achieve vice captain, however a Captain? This was truely a day he would never forget.
Abilities:
Kyoko tends to begin fighting without releasing his Zanpakuto to gage his opponent’s fighting strength. During this time, he will use a combination of sword attacks as well as Kido to keep the opponent at bay and perhaps even reeling from him. His fighting style is rather unique to him as he prefers to use multiple combination attacks that involve him throwing his sword away, only to catch it later and continue fighting.
Typically, a combo involving this strategy will involve a direct toss of his Zanpakuto into the air. He then uses an offensive or defensive Kidou attack depending on the situation at hand. Either way, once the Kidou attack has completed, his Zanpkauto will be within grasp by then and will follow up with a series of attacks as his opponent is trying to recover from the previous Kidou ability.
His strength is solid as he slices with his blade, even able to knock some off balance sometimes. He has a thorough form as he makes each parry and slash easily variable to a defensive or offensive position as he fights. He generally likes to keep light and fight with speed rather than pure strength though.
Once he has fully observed an opponent’s strengths and weaknesses, he will then release his Zanpakuto. Depending on what strength or weakness he has found will determine what abilities he uses while his Zanpakuto is released. Starfall becomes an offensive attack, Shining Diffusion becomes a defensive skill, and Crescent Blades becomes a average of the two allowing him to continue using his earlier fighting style.
Six Rods Prison of Light - Summons six beams of light to hold a target in position.
Splitting Void - Creates an energy barrier in the form of a rectangular wall to protect the user from attacks.
White Lightning - Fires a stream of lighting from the user’s hand.
Abolishing Flames - Fires a blast of purple flames that can completely incinerate a target.
Zanpakutou Name: Oumagatoki (Twilight)
Sealed Form: While unreleased, Twilight appears as a moderate sized blade, reaching around three and one half feet in length. The hilt is shaped as a star with four crescent edges protruding from the corners. Its blade is straight with a slight curve at the tip. The sheath of the blade is a pure white at the end while gradually working up to being a midnight blue color near the hilt. This sheath seems to represent the change from night and day according to his Zanpakuto’s nature.
The blade itself is quite thin, however this doesn’t mean it is necessarily weak. The blade does not bend at all, even while under pressure. The tip of the blade is quite pointed and is the most reflective piece of the entire blade. It is so potent to reflection that it can even reflect the moon’s lucent beams during the night. While very eye catchy, it merely looks as if the tip sparkles, nothing more.
The grip of the Zanpakuto is firm with dark black ribbon-like material lining it. While it feels rather uncomfortable to others, Kyoko enjoys the firm grip he has on it, as well as the easy ability to grasp the sword when he tosses it around during fights.
--Shikai
Shikai Release Phrase: "Heavens Converge"
Shikai Appearance: Release phrase is "Heavens Converge". Once released, Twilight's blade shifts into a much longer blade, easily doubling in length. Its blade also dips about two inches near the hilt before becoming straight again. A glistening gem also appears on each side of the blade near the hilt as well. The color of these gems varies depending on the time of day. While it is morning, the gems shine a bright orange. While it is night, the gems shine a bright white.
It also obtains a twin colored sash on the end of the grip. One sash is of a pure white color while the other sash that dangles from the end is of a pitch black color. This resembles Oumagatoki’s presence and tail. The blade itself also emits a glowing color that splits down the middle of the blade. The left half emits a black and blue aura while the right half emits a white and yellow aura.
Shikai Abilities:
Hoshi Kouka (Star Fall) - Most potent during the night. Starfall invokes Kyoko's spiritual energy and disperses it over a wide arc towards his opponent. This dispersion takes the form of miniature stars that gleam with hues of purple and blue. Trails of blue and purple travel along the wake of these miniature stars. Once the miniature stars impact a surface, they explode in a shower of burning sparks with a small radius. A direct hit by any of the miniature stars will cause severe burns. If used during the night, extra miniature stars splash out from impact to nearby surfaces. Kyoko must be still in order to use this, so ample timing must be used to properly use its destructive capabilities.
Eisha Kakusan (Shining Diffusion) - Most potent during the day. Shining Diffusion has the ability to absorb a portion of destructive Kido or spiritual energy. The blade glows a bright blue which can then be directed towards the attack to absorb. While it cannot absorb an entire attack, it can disperse the damage over a wider surface area to lessen the damage done to Kyoko. If used during the day, it can be used to also redirect certain Kido and spiritual energy attacks. This does not absorb physical blows.
Wangetsu Yaiba (Crescent Blades) - A balanced ability under Kyoko's arsenal. Crescent Blades cause Twilight's blades to glow an indigo color. A trail of spiritual energy is left in the wake of the blade allowing Kyoko to essentially hit twice with one swipe of his blade. The spiritual energy that trails the blade has as much potential to cut as the Zanpakuto itself. The wake from the blade slows down the speed of the blade slightly in order to give the 'double' hit potential.
--Bankai
Bankai Name: Ryou (Eclipse)
Bankai Appearance: Once released, Oumagatoki’s blade seems to virtually vanish as it becomes almost a pure entity of blazing energy. As before when Oumagatoki is released, the color of the auras remains, however it appears to be completely made up of spiritual energy in this state. The blade constantly shimmers with white, black, blue, and yellow energy that courses up and down the blade. The small sashes that flowed from the grip of the blade get a second addition to them in the form of jewelry. On the white sash, a small gold symbol of the sun dangles from it while on the black sash, a small silver symbol of a crescent moon hangs from it.
In Bankai state, the blade further lengthens another one foot bringing it to seven feet long in total. While this is incredibly longer than Kyoko, he is able to fight with the incredibly large blade with swiftness and grace. His fighting style changes slightly while in Bankai state as he does not have the free ability to simply toss his blade into the air and expect to catch it with the blade so long. The energy that Oumagatoki emits has the potential to slice through nearly anything it touches, save for another Zanpakuto unless the opponent’s weapon is extremely weak. While in this state, Oumagatoki also creates an ‘eclipse’ depending on if it is night or day which is merely an environment effect similar to that of its Spiritual realm.
Bankai Abilities: Eclipse greatly increases the range of Kyoko’s attacks as well as the ability to parry blows from not just one opponent but multiple opponents if need be. The blade also gains incredible cutting power from the aura of light and darkness that is incredibly amplified in this state. The drawback however is the drastic change in fighting style Kyoko must undergo while in this state as he cannot use the blade as if it was in its unreleased or released form. He must resort to a variety of flash steps in order to keep up with his normally lighting fast attacks. The large blade however seems to be heavy really isn’t. While handling it, it is rather light allowing for quick attacks, however Kyoko cannot make a mistake as the recovery rate from attack to attack is greatly increased due to the blade’s length.
During its Bankai state, Oumagatoki has the same abilities as its released form, however each grows in potential. Star Fall becomes even deadlier with the ability to direct the falling stars more accurately by simply aiming the blade at his opponent. Shining Diffusion allows the blade to absorb Kido attacks and increase its own cutting power. Crescent Blades makes the largest change out of the three, allowing Kyoko to swing his large blade and create a swathe of light and dark energy to blaze towards his opponent in the form of a wave.
