A clang reverberated on the walls of a rather derelict and rundown hospital in Old Tokyo. It once housed the most grievous of the ill and the dying, but now it stands only to serve as a buffer zone between the heavily urbanized New Tokyo and the old dilapidated part of its once magnificent city. It serves as a reminder to those who live in the new world of what they have left behind, what they have chosen to forget and what life they have created for themselves. Another clang sounded, although this time one could easily hear the echoes of rubbles slowly falling off the walls and the weird sound of something galloping , trampling upon its concrete floors shaking the foundations of the building. A third time a sound cried out but this time it was the sound of concrete exploding. The Midnight Express Hover Train or MEHT, flew past the hospital's windows, its bright light showering through the broken hinges and cracks on the glass. A shadow shifted and an armour clad man riding an armour clad horse raced through yet another set of walls. He carried with him a huge claymore and a rather rough voice, a sure sign of someone who does not believe that there is a thing as tuberculosis.
"d**n it! Quit moving around!" the man shouted, clearly furstrated, racing his horse and slamming his massive sword through another wall, giving him a clear view of the hospital's old heart center. "I'm gonna' get ya' I will!"
"You're bankai's definitely lame... Who rides a horse in this day and age?" a younger voice spoke, his voice calm and definitely happy. His voice sounded as if it came from everywhere around, the hallways, the stairs, the old rooms, just everywhere. Mito never really liked playing around, but he was having so much fun just trying to rise the man's ire that he no longer cared if it took forever for the slowpoke to at least hit him.
"Why don't ya' show yourself and fight then!? You're just a coward!!" the man shouted yet again, his voice echoing like an old man when he loses his denchers.
"Hold your horses!!" Mito muttered as he suddenly appeared below the man's horse, before drawing his sword and slashing through its four feet in a wide horizontal slice, left and right, and then disappearing again. The man's eyes widened as his horse buckled and blood started spurting everywhere. Noticing a slight movement to his right, he regained focus and slammed his claymore unto the left wall, crumbling it, bu there was no one there. He peered through his right, swerving his body in full momentum and then slashed only to find nothing but air. His arms stretched in the attack, Mito chose the right time to sever it and that he did. Using shunpo he appeared from his spot in the shadows in front of the man after he had justs swung. Mito used the speed of the shunpo to cleanly sever the man's right hand with an upward horizontal slash, chopping it off from the shoulders.
"You bastard!!" the man cried out as Mito disappeared yet again. The sound of his claymore hitting the ground with his entire right arm opened his eyes wide. He was about to attempt to stop the blood flow but stopped as he felt something hot trickling down his left arm only to find it also missing from its spot. He howled in pain as blood poured heavily on the concrete tiles of the emergency room. His body rocked in pain and he fell on the ground, breathing heavily as he tried desperately to try and get up. He peered his eyes through the blanket of darkness and saw a figure slowly coming out from the shadow and stood next to him.
"You're not that strong are you...? I admit, your bankai was strong, but you should have noticed that every time you swung your enormous sword, it took you awhile to retract your arm back. Your reiatsu is also concentrated in your arms when you strike making it easier for me to track your movement. Oh well, I'll be merciful and end your life now..." Mito said, chuckling as he drew his zanpakutou and thrust it towards the man's head. He laughed a little as it seemed as if it only pierced through the man's cheeks and apologized. He thrust it again, only to cut off the man's ear and create a huge scar across the man's head. He apologized yet again before finally thrusting his zanpakutou straight through the shinigami's head, finally ending his life.
"Man... That was boring..." he muttered, cleaning his zanpakutou before sheathing it. He watched as blood quickly gushed out from the wounds he had inflicted and he reveled at the sight of it. He quickly took a vial from inside his hoodie's front pocket and immediately opened it, devouring all its contents. He threw the vial away and looked straight through the windows. The sun was starting to rise it seems. He smiled and proceeded to walk out of the hospital. If he was right, the MEHT will be arriving in the old Akihabara Station in about ten minutes. Five in the morning, the hover train changes route and will take him directly under the city where he needed to be. He was running out of blood to drink, so he had to get back for more supplies.

Not often did Ryuuzaki get the train at this time in the morning. Of course, not often did he have to fight Hollows this early in the morning or in this part of Tokyo. He was currently the only person in the car. He wore his school uniform and tied to his wrist was a small cross. He had long, dark hair in a ponytail and wore glasses.
He had been up early to practice for his archery club contest later today but was interrupted when a Hollow attacked. As usual, he had rushed to this part of Tokyo and dealt with the Hollow by himself with ease, as usual. He was perfect, after all. A genius amongst the Quincy and heir to the clan. And he was a student council president, track star and champion in the archery club. And not only that but he was top of the class. Yes, the term 'genius' befitted him.
And yet, he could not help but feel unnerved by the two large reiatsus he had felt. Both belonging to what felt like Shinigami. Probably dealing with another Hollow. He was tired so it made sense that one might miss the reiatsu of a lowly Hollow. Of course, it seemed more like they were fighting each other so he assumed one was a rogue.

He ran as fast as he could, not that he couldn't just jump on top of the buildings, no, he can do that. He just wanted to see how fast he was on his feet and proceeded to run from the old hospital to the station. He did not even bother to apologize as he slammed into a plus soul sending the spirit through the pavement. He raced through the next block just in time to see the hover train slowly landing, its bright lights flickering. He wasted no more time and dashed through the entrance and into the platform. He saw the train doors open and dashed. Mito calmly walked through the automatic doors and looked around, his black hooded shirt's strange fabric seemed to glow an eerie blood red as the car's light struck it. It was a new technology in fashion, where the clothes take on the colour of something its wearer had just eaten or drank when light hits it. He found only one other person in the car, a student it seems, with the uniform and all. He had sensed that the boy's reiatsu seems to be a bit different than others, so he assumed that this guy was not ordinary, as are almost all the inhabitants in this area are, so he wasn't that surprised. He waved and smiled at the guy to find out if he could see Mito. He wondered why a student would be up so early and why this part of town? This place is filled with the undesirable and considering how the boy acts, it appears that he was not from Old Tokyo and might even be well off. Mito then proceeded to approach him, his zanpakutou still in his left hand as he always carry it around.
"Hmm... You look like a geek..." he muttered more to himself as he walked around the boy, seemingly assessing him. He actually didn't look like a geek at all, but Mito just had an appetite for insulting people that day, among other things.

"And you look like a thug. I think I'd rather be a geek" was the cool, level-headed reply from Ryuuzaki. Not the slightest tone of anger or any sign that he was annoyed. It was a completely calm tone. One could tell just how composed he was. He was not one to let insults offend him. He would take them as if they were nothing. Nobody insulted him as a result. They just couldn't get under his skin.
It was at that time that the train hovered off the ground and began moving again. Ryuuzaki focused his vision on the man. There was no doubt that this was the man whose reiatsu he sensed earlier. He had sensed it moving towards here until the man got on board. Yes, he was absolutely sure that this was the man. It was blatantly obvious too, considering that he was holding a Zanpakutoh.
"Is there really any reason to be carrying around such a thing? I'm sure you don't need it. Or do you just feel comfortable carrying a sword in this day and age?" he asked, knowing how easily the man defeated that other Shinigami. Definitely not a pushover, but Ryuuzaki wasn't scared. He was perfection, after all. A genius.

Mito laughed hard at what the other boy said, not that it was funny to him, nope. He was actually quite disgusted. "You're an okay guy!" he lied, laughing in between each word. "And FYI, I'm carrying my zanpakutou so I could kill Hollows wherever they may sprout, but I got the notion you already killed the one that I felt earlier, huh? What are you, a Quincy?" He didn't really care who or what the other boy was because it definitely did not matter. He peered his eyes around and watched as an old man entered the car and seated himself off the opposite side, clearly trying to steer clear of the both of them. Not waiting for an answer, he dashed, vanishing and reappearing before the old man. The old man squeaked as he appeared and almost fell off his seat. "Woah, you're definitely old..." he muttered, before he slammed his right hand just a few inches off the old man's face, denting the metal. The old man was too stunned to move and started to whimper. Mito hated such weak humans. It didn't matter if they seem to show at least small signs of power and can see them, they were still ultimately weak, and human.
"Sorry about that. Just wanted to see if you would piss your pants..." he muttered, pouting as if seemingly disappointed that it didn't happen. Mito normally isn't like this. He's supposed to be the nicest person anyone will get to meet. But he was just so bored, that he didn't care to put on his mask anymore. He stood back and watched gleefully as the stranger continued to whimper. He absolutely liked the terrified expression on the man's face, it was just so satisfying.

"Yes, I was the one that dealt with it. Your assistance was not necessary in the least" Ryuuzaki replied. He was simple and direct in his speech, preferring only to say what was necessary. He listened as the man spoke again about why he carried his Zanpakutoh like that all the time. Once done, Ryuuzaki spoke again.
"Yes, I am a Quincy. Ishida Ryuuzaki, to be exact. And you are a Shinigami, right? Of course, I doubt any normal Shinigami has the reiatsu you ooze out" Ryuuzaki replied, having noted that this man's reiatsu was much different to a normal Shinigami's. What was different about it he wasn't sure though.
He watched as the Shinigami began tormenting an old man, just to see the old man's reaction. Quite obviously a Sadist, or something much like that. Psychological, mental, physical, any kind of pain is what a Sadist loved to see. Obviously an old man's fear would be satisfying.
'Tch, how pitiful. And here I thought Shinigami were meant to protect the people. It seems that too is merely an excuse for their actions' he thought as he watched.

Having finished with his new, now old victim. He flew right back toward the boy. A satisfied smile plastered on his face. "Did I just hear what just said? Shinigami are pitiful? We'll you're right on the mark, megane-chan. We shinigami are selfish, pathetic and bloodthirsty lowlifes that care for no one and nothing in this pathetic world of yours," he declared, waving his zanpakutou around carelessly. Mito really didn't care much what they think of shinigami. He could care less if the Quincy sided with them when they 'invade' Soul Society. Proceeding to see if he could annoy the Quincy, he seated himself uncomfortably close to the boy. He was still smiling, although on the inside he felt like puking.
"So, are you powerful Quincy-kun?" he asked, not bothering to hear if he answers or not. It really didn't matter if he was or if he wasn't. Not like he was going to fight yet another Soul Society reject, well, in this case, his race is the reject. He wondered if he should wait until the boy gets off before he goes underground. Oh well, what could he do?

Ryuuzaki merely ignored the annoying nickname as he spoke of how the Shinigami were selfish, bloodthirsty and pathetic lowlives. He honestly couldn't care less. They way he spoke however told Ryuuzaki that the man was not an ally of the Gotei 13. He knew from hearing about his father's meetings with the Shinigami that one did not go around calling Shinigami that and that they were respectable people, somewhat.
When the man sat uncomfortably close to him, he did not show any sign of being annoyed or uncomfortable. He would not let the man get the reaction he wanted. When he asked if Ryuuzaki was a powerful Quincy, Ryuuzaki nodded, confirming that he was. "Yes, I am a very powerful Quincy" he told the man.
He left it at that, not bothering to go into detail. He only said what needed to be said. He didn't brag or show off, that was not like him. No, he preferred to remain silent.

"Huh, the silent type... Should have known..." he muttered pouting as he slowly got up and seated himself across the Quincy. He noticed that boy seemed to carry an air of confidence in him, or more like arrogance, to him anyway. Mito had somewhat calmed a bit now, his adrenaline levels slowly dropping and his face started to change to the smiling one he always wore instead of that insane one.. He seemed a bit more subdued and more calmer, just sitting around waiting for the train to start moving. And if on cue, the car's doors automatically closed. He looked to his right and found that the old man earlier was no longer there. He wondered if he switched to another car or just got off. He guessed the latter. An electronic voice started to speak through the public announcement system. [ M.E.H.T. transport is now lifting off. Please standby for rerouting... Complete. Hover transport will pass by the new Aoyama underground system straight to the new Shinjuku Air Terminal. Please prepare your New Tokyo Identification Cards. Thank you. ] Perfect, he thought. He will just have to pass through the underground Aoyama air tunnel straight to the base. He had to be perfect when he does since there is only a small margin of error. The tunnel system is solidified with walls of Sekki-seki to stop intruders from ever going in unless they knew the route that will take them. He then pushed away all those thoughts and proceeded to try and crush his boredom with at least a more civilized conversation. If the boy in front of him obliges, of course. "What's the Quincy's current stand on the shinigami, megane-chan?" he asked, smiling rather weirdly.

He heard what Mito said but did not show any signs of care in the slightest. As he said, Ryuuzaki was the silent type who preferred not to talk unless necessary and only say just enough to satisfy one. After all, he did not need to bother himself with others who were imperfect.
As the electronic voice came, Ryuuzaki listened closely and took note of what was said. At least he was getting somewhat close to the Clan House where he lived. That was good news. He'd still have to take a long walk after he got off but it was okay. He had plenty of time.
Hearing the man ask again about the Quincy, he once again answered in a monotone "We are allies". Short, simple and to the point. Exactly how Ryuuzaki's responses were. And they were allies, after all. One thousand years of co-existence made that possible.

"Allies..." the word came off of his mouth rather strangely as if he was trying to smudge out all the traces of disgust in his tone. Allies, he thought. It seems that in the past millennium, the Quincy's have forgotten all the atrocities done in the past. They have become yet again, shepherd dogs to the shinigami. Pathetic.
"That's rather unfortunate... It seems the Quincy's have long abandoned their pride..." he mutters, smiling and making his tone as pleasant as ever. He wanted to see what the boy's reaction will be, if he retorts or if he stays silent can already tell him a a lot. He may also be able to use any information he gets when he needs it. Shinigami and the other races were never meant to get along. "What a pity... he added. He wondered if the shinigami have made a false sense of hope and promise to these people or is it that Seireitei has gotten too soft over the years. Nevertheless, the Quincy's well have to be expunged off the war. They must sever Soul Society's ties with its allies. Although it did not matter much, it would still make the was more easier than it already is. Normal arrancar were a whole lot stronger than normal shinigami and the Captains, well, the Espada and them can take care of them.
"Do your race plan on aiding them if something happens...? Like say, a war?" he asked, a strange sense of amusement in his voice. He thought maybe the Quincy would be a bit more, how do you call it, 'reasonable'. If they ever try to aid the shinigami then Mito himself would lead a group to wipe them out. Nothing like pre-war fun. And besides, with the recent threats to its security, he doubts Seireitei will send help if the Quincy's need it. "It would be really unfortunate if you do... Who knows what will happen..."

As Kamiyama spoke of the Quincies losing their pride, Ryuuzaki briefly glanced in his direction, looking at him as if he was an idiot before sighing. "How sad. A Shinigami reject can't even tell the difference between 'allies' and 'friends'. We are first responders, that is all. We co-exist merely to prevent another meaningless war. In the past thousand years, we have not become comrades enough to consider entering a war. If we do, it is merely out of a hatred for Hollows" he told him, probably speaking the longest side of a dialogue he's made in a while.
He was not stupid, Kamiyama could probably tell that. Even without being told directly, Ryuuzaki had figured out that Kamiyama was being serious when he mentioned a 'war'. Why else mention something as big as that? He could've merely made an example using something like 'in the event that a Menos comes to the human world'. After all, a Menos in the human world was more plausible than a war. Yes, Ryuuzaki had figured that this Shinigami reject was going to fight in a war against the Shinigami.

Mito laughed uncontrollably as the boy spoke. It was clear that he thought he was stupid. The truth was, he wanted to see how the Quincy's will act if they knew a war was about to start. He wiped off an imaginary tear off his eye and looked straight at the boy, smiling. "Don't get me wrong... I don't care whether you're 'allies' or 'friends'. That does not concern me. However, since both your races live with the intention to co-exist, does that mean that all those Quincy lives lost long ago are all for naught? Being first responders is the same thing as dogs that bark if there is an intruder in their masters' land. So, it's quite logical to say that you're shinigami dogs now, huh? Master and slave working together in perfect harmony... How sweet..." he muttered, grinning happily at the other boy. This one was a bit harder to annoy, a bit more composed and really... stiff, he thought. He wondered how he can get him angry...
"You know... If you're not going to help them, then why don't you have the freedom to destroy Hollows? To make sure they don't come back as 'rogue' shinigami because of their 'dark' past? I'm sure Soul Society would grant you that much, as 'allies'. Wait, you Quincy's being first responders doesn't make you allies with the shinigami... in a sense... Dogs that bark at wolves when the sheep are in danger of being eaten... How... prideful work..." he singsonged, smiling his empty smile. They nearing his destination. In a couple of minutes, he'll have to bolt out of the train. Maybe he could cut it in half before he leaves, he thought.

"You seem to have a tendency to look at things from the worst point of view. Or is it that you are attempting to annoy me? Either way, it does not matter. There is no point to argue wether or not those Quincies gave their lives for nothing. We failed to heed the warnings and they soled the problem with genocide. In the end, all we can do is move forward" Ryuuzaki told him, still staying calm and collected despite Mito's best attempts. "Shinigami dogs? Masters and slaves? We fight to protect others, not for the Soul Society. One can only be classified as their dogs if they fight for the Soul Society".
"Destroy Hollows? How foolish. A purified Hollow wouldn't necessarily make a rogue Shinigami. We are merely giving them a chance. It's their choice wether or not to choose death at their comrades' Zanpakutoh when they rebel. And that is why they cannot blame anyone but their own, foolish, imperfect selves" Ryuuzaki answered calmly.

"You're a nice guy, you know that? Really nice to be thinking of others... Your self-imposed heroism is quite admirable indeed," he muttered, his smile never leaving face. Although, he didn't practically show it, he was already fed up with this guy. Quite stuck-up, he thought. Maybe he can butter him up a bit. Humans are such interesting creatures, unpredictable and absolutely random. He wondered how they could get along despite their sheer difference from one another. Then he felt it, a strange wave of hate that seemingly engulfs his mind whenever he thinks of such inferior species. His smile slowly but visibly started turning upside down into a frown. It always happens, this sudden change in demeanor. He would become murderous and would seek the weakest reiatsu around just to have some fun. And he immediately felt it. The hover train had not yet gone underground and he could still fell the small reiatsu of people around. He licked his lips and stared murderously through the train's wall.
"Unfortunately, I have to cut this little meeting short... I'm rather... hungry..." was all he said as he flew past the boy's left through the train and into the streets. It seems the place was still Old Tokyo, several beggars and homeless on the streets. They looked up to him in confusion. They can see him, perfect, he thought. He unsheathed his zanpakutou and smiled, turning his frown backwards. "How about we have a little bit of breakfast everybody?"
